BRUSSELS » Bombs exploded Tuesday at the Brussels airport and in the city’s subway, killing at least 31 people and wounding dozens, as a European capital was again locked down amid heightened security threats. The Islamic State group claimed responsibility for the attacks.

The two airport blasts, at least one of them blamed on a suicide bomber, left behind a chaotic scene of splattered blood in the departure lounge as windows were blown out, ceilings collapsed and travelers streamed out of the smoky building.

WESTERN EUROPE HAS SEEN A STRING OF ATTACKS IN RECENT YEARS

Deadly attacks Tuesday at the Brussels airport and a metro station in the city are the latest in a string of attacks in Europe in recent years. Here are some of the most recent major ones:

Nov. 13, 2015
Islamic State-linked extremists attacked the Bataclan concert hall and other sites across Paris, killing 130 people. A key suspect in the attack, 26-year-old Salah Abdeslam, was arrested in Brussels on March 18, 2016.

Jan. 7, 2015
A gun assault on the Paris offices of the satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo kills 12 people. Al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula claimed responsibility for the attack, saying it was in revenge for Charlie Hebdo’s depictions of the Prophet Mohammed.

May 24, 2014
Four people are killed at the Jewish Museum in Brussels by an intruder with a Kalashnikov. The accused is a former French fighter linked to the Islamic State group in Syria.

May 22, 2013
Two al-Qaida-inspired extremists run down British soldier Lee Rigby in a London street, then stab and hack him to death.

March 2012
A gunman claiming links to al-Qaida kills three Jewish schoolchildren, a rabbi and three paratroopers in Toulouse, southern France.

July 22, 2011
Anti-Muslim extremist Anders Behring Breivik plants a bomb in Oslo then launches a shooting massacre on a youth camp on Norway’s Utoya island, killing 77 people, many of them teenagers.

Nov. 2, 2011
The offices of Charlie Hebdo in Paris are firebombed after the satirical magazine runs a cover featuring a caricature of the Prophet Muhammad. No one is injured.

July 7, 2005
52 commuters are killed in London when four al Qaida-inspired suicide bombers blow themselves up on three subway trains and a bus.

March 11, 2004
Bombs on rush-hour trains kill 191 people at Madrid’s Atocha station in Europe’s worst Islamic extremist attack.

About an hour later, another bomb exploded on a rush-hour subway train near the European Union headquarters. Terrified passengers had to evacuate through darkened tunnels to safety.

“What we feared has happened,” Belgian Prime Minister Charles Michel said. “In this time of tragedy, this black moment for our country, I appeal to everyone to remain calm but also to show solidarity.”

Belgium raised its terror alert to the highest level, diverting planes and trains and ordering people to stay where they were for most of the workday.

Authorities also released a photo taken from closed-circuit TV of three men pushing luggage carts, saying two of them apparently were the suicide bombers and that the third — dressed in a light-colored coat, black hat and glasses — was at large. They urged the public to contact them if they recognized him.

Police later conducted raids in Brussels searching for one of the suspects, and found a nail-filled bomb, chemical products and an Islamic State flag in the search of a house in the Schaerbeek neighborhood, the state prosecutors’ office said in a statement.

Airports across Europe — and in the New York area — tightened security.

“We are at war,” French Prime Minister Manuel Valls said after a crisis meeting in Paris. “We have been subjected for the last few months in Europe to acts of war.”

Added French President Francois Hollande: “Terrorists struck Brussels, but it was Europe that was targeted, and it is all the world which is concerned by this.”

European security officials have been bracing for a major attack for weeks and warned that the Islamic State group was actively preparing to strike. The arrest Friday of Salah Abdeslam, a key suspect in the Nov. 13 attacks in Paris, heightened those fears, as investigators said many more people were involved than originally thought and that some are still on the loose.

The Islamic State group claimed responsibility for the Brussels attacks, saying in a post on the group’s Amaq news agency that its extremists opened fire in the airport and “several of them” detonated suicide belts. It said another suicide attacker struck in the subway. The post claimed the attack was in response to Belgium’s support of the international coalition arrayed against the group.

Authorities found and neutralized a third bomb at the airport once the chaos after the two initial blasts had eased, said Florence Muls, a spokeswoman for the airport told The Associated Press. Bomb squads also detonated suspicious objects found in at least two locations elsewhere in the capital, but neither contained explosives, authorities said.

Michel said there was no immediate evidence linking the attacks with Abdeslam. After his arrest, Abdeslam told authorities he had created a new network and was planning new attacks.

U.S. President Barack Obama pledged to “do whatever is necessary” to help Belgian authorities seek justice.

“We stand in solidarity with them in condemning these outrageous attacks against innocent people,” Obama said in Havana, where he was closing a three-day visit.

Western Europe has lived for decades under the threat of violence from homegrown nationalist and revolutionary movements. Extremists from North Africa and the Middle East have attacked civilian targets without warning, ranging from France’s 1960s war in Algeria through Libya’s 1988 downing of an airline over Scotland to the 2004-05 attacks on the public transportation systems of London and Madrid.

Certain neighborhoods in Brussels, like the Molenbeek quarter, have bred extremists and supplied foreign fighters. Plotters linked to the Paris attacks and others have either moved through or lived in parts of the city.

Tuesday’s explosions at the airport in the Brussels suburb of Zaventem came shortly after 8 a.m., one of its busiest periods when thousands of people were inside. Belgian Health Minister Maggie de Block said 11 people were killed and 81 wounded. Eleven people had serious injuries, Marc Decramer of the Gasthuisberg hospital in Leuven told broadcaster VTM. The nails apparently came from one of the bombs.

Zach Mouzoun, who arrived on a flight from Geneva about 10 minutes before the first blast, told BFM television that the second, louder explosion brought down ceilings and ruptured pipes, mixing water with victims’ blood.

“It was atrocious. The ceilings collapsed,” he said. “There was blood everywhere, injured people, bags everywhere.”

“We were walking in the debris. It was a war scene,” he said.

Video from moments after the blasts showed travelers huddled next to check-in counters and lying near luggage and trolleys as dust and the cries of the wounded filled the air. Dazed people stumbled from the scene, some with clothes and shoes blown off.

Anthony Deloos, an airport worker for Swissport, which handles check-in and baggage services, said the first explosion took place near the counters where customers pay for overweight bags. He and a colleague said the second blast hit near a Starbucks cafe.

“I jumped into a luggage chute to be safe,” Deloos said.

The subway bombing came after 9 a.m., killing 20 people and wounding more than 100, Mayor Yvan Majeur said.

“The metro was leaving Maelbeek station for Schuman when there was a really loud explosion,” said Alexandre Brans, 32, wiping blood from his face. “It was panic everywhere. There were a lot of people in the metro.”

Near the entrance to the station, rescue workers set up a makeshift medical treatment center in a pub. Dazed and shocked morning commuters streamed from the metro entrances as police tried to set up a security cordon.

The airport was ordered closed for the rest of the day and CEO Arnaud Feist said the facility would be shut at least through Wednesday. About 600 flights in or out of Brussels were diverted or canceled, Muls said.

The metro also was ordered closed as the city was locked down. By the end of the workday, city officials said residents could begin moving around on the streets of the capital and train stations were reopening. But Peter Mertens of the Belgian crisis center said the threat of more attacks “is still real and serious.”

At least one and possibly two Kalashnikovs were found in the departure lounge at the airport, according to a European security official in contact with a Belgian police official who spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to talk about the ongoing investigation. It was not immediately clear if the firearms were used in the attacks.

Travelers fled the airport as quickly as they could. In video shown on France’s i-Tele television, men, women and children dashed from the terminal in different directions. Security officers patrolled a hall with blown-out paneling and ceiling panels covering the floor.

Marc Noel, 63, was about to board a Delta flight to Atlanta, to return to his home in Raleigh, North Carolina. A Belgian native, Noel said he was in an airport shop buying automotive magazines when the first blast struck about 50 yards away.

“People were crying, shouting — children. It was a horrible experience,” he said, adding that his decision to shop might have saved his life. “I would probably have been in that place when the bomb went off.”

Associated Press Writers Raf Casert, Raphael Satter and Angela Charlton in Brussels, Lori Hinnant in Paris and Paisley Dodds in London contributed to this report.

This will propel Trump’s bid for office as nothing else could.

His call for the building of physical border barriers, a pause in immigration and a total ban on Muslim immigration gains credibility with each passing day.

Because of the speed with which the threat to the USA is developing, he may have to amend his intention of abruptly pulling all our troops off the battlefields of Iraq and Afghanistan. If so he will soon discover that the drastic sequester budget cap draw down of Army end strength has got to be stopped and instead a WWII era total force build up be immediately undertaken. To that end it will be necessary to restore the draft – – and this time [1] with NO exemptions and [2] including women who have been so successful in lobbying for direct war fighting combat assignments. We have to face the fact that an adequate defense of this country against this growing threat demands that everyone have skin in the game.

      • Morimoto says:

Agree with your first two paragraphs, though I still think it’ll be a travesty if Trump is elected. Your last paragraph makes me think you’re one of those rabid Trump supporters who overreacts to everything in an attempt to seem tough. Europe, much less the US, is hardly an innocent “victim” in this so called “war” with radical Islam.

        • Keonigohan says:

So you feel your & O’s laid-back-apologetic-leading-from-behind strategy for the last 7+ years is the key to protecting Americans?

        • Morimoto says:

@Keonigohan, “laid back apologetic” approach? You’re joking right. Why don’t you do some actual research, with actual statistics, before you sprout your ignorance. Start off with the large increase in drone attacks under “O”. Don’t believe everything you hear on FOX. I guess you also believe “O” is a Muslim too right?

        • thos says:

In the wake of such events as transpired on/at 9/11, Fort Hood, Boston, Times Square, Mumbai, Paris, San Bernadino and now Brussells, one dares to suggest that a concern for national security is not best characterized as “over reacting” for the purpose of being “tough”. Further I would suggest that those who were murdered in the events cited above were indeed victims.

The threat we face is quite real and hangs over all of our fellow citizens regardless of political persuasion.

That said I am quite prepared to listen to an argument that we do NOT need to beef up our military forces OR resurrect the draft – – if you care to advance such arguments.

        • Winston says:

“…the US, is hardly an innocent “victim” in this so called “war” with radical Islam.”— And therefore the US deserves some form of retribution? Sounds like what you are saying. Is that so? If so, please to explain how much retribution we or the Europeans should placidly accept to even up the historical accounts?

And why not drone attacks against those dedicated to attack our national interests, our military and, particularly, our citizens? Obama’s drone war is unfocused, lacks an overarching strategy, and has questionable effectiveness, but seems aimed at the right targets. Why not?

        • Morimoto says:

There is no argument worth putting forth since you’ve already made up your mind. Historically we’re actually living in very peaceful times, though you’d never know it if you get all your information from the first ten minutes of the evening news. Of course there’s a threat. There’s always a threat, but seriously I’m far more afraid of Americans than any Muslim extremists.

        • Winston says:

Strange world you live in, Morimoto. And the insult regarding who is an isn’t informed is worth a laugh. You’re the one who, in earlier posts, couldn’t imagine the fundamental evil of communism, revealing a gigantic void in your values and knowledge of the history of the 19th century.

Finally, you failed to address my point: you imply that the US/Europe, having dirty hands regarding dealing with Muslims, deserve the blow back. My question was/is how many murders of US or European citizens should we accept before reacting? Seems to me you, and most liberals, are overburdened by a form of guilt that is almost religious in nature, condoning self-punishment for past foreign policy sins. In doing so, you hold our nation, and western civilization in general, to a standard of conduct to which NO OTHER CULTURE IS HELD.

          Please answer the question.

At 10:05 am Morimoto made this outrageous claim: “Of course there’s a threat. There’s always a threat, but seriously I’m far more afraid of Americans than any Muslim extremists.”

That perception might change when you are ankle deep in blood and with a face full of flying glass. And then again, perhaps not.

Well done! When realizing you are about to enter a sword fight armed with naught but a butter knife, it IS best to retreat.

Perhaps on some future occasion the facts will favor your position, which just now – – not to put too fine a point on it – – is untenable.

      • Bothrops says:

More troops won’t do much, we need more smart thinking and intelligence (of both kinds). We are dealing with cells and lone wolves in Europe and the US.

        How to deal with them:

        1. More surveillance, but better focused, who visits jihad web pages and downloads instructions on how to make bombs. We make down loading child porn illegal, so make downloading bomb instructions also illegal.

        2. Massive hacking of such sites would be in order. Maybe even false flag sites that give suicide bombers instructions on how to accidently blow themselves up. Lots of web pages about what really happens if you go to Syria to sign up.

        3. More positive engagement with the US Muslim community as they would best know who has been radicalized.

        4. A no fly zone in Syria to keep refugees in Syria.

        5. Get European countries to rethink how they have tried/failed to integrate Eastern refugees into their cultures. What has worked?

        6. Better intel and more drones to use the intel. We know what territory ISIL occupies. Take out their infrastructure. We bombed their oil facilities, take out the oil trucks. I gather we blew up one of their banks. American intelligence in WW II was very successful in an economic bombing campaign against Japan and that was a First-world nation. Isis is mentally a Bronze age culture, bomb them back to the Stone age, with smart bombs and drones.

        7. We know from England and Germany in WW II that carpet bombing just p*sses off the locals, as have terrorist attacks in the US, France and Britain, Turkey, etc. Kill the bad guys, not the by-standers.

        8. Related to 6, make sure ISIL has no territory it “holds” so there is no Caliphate as a role model for radicalized types in Western Countries.

Some of this we are already doing, but things like 5 and 6 together are really the only way to go “trampling out the vintage where the grapes of wrath are stored,”

        • thos says:

Many good ideas and here’s another:

The last time Congress fulfilled its Constitutional mandate to declare War was on December 8, 1941.

Ever since there have been weasel word “resolutions” the Executive Branch could take as an excise to WAGE war, albeit undeclared.

ISIS claims to be a sovereign state. Let’s take them at their word and then DEMAND that Congress pass a Declaration of War against the Islamic State.

With that in hand, our next commander in chief will have all the pre-requisites needed to wage all out war on those who believe their primitive, bloodthirsty god has commanded them to wreak havoc on the rest of the world. The new CINC can use this authorization to budget for the massive increase in our military force structure to wage a global war against those now conducting global jihad.

We’ve pussy footed around long enough, allowing our enemy to gather strength. Time now to go for broke.

        • Winston says:

          Not a bad list.

        • Cellodad says:

But what amuses me is the ignorance that most of you have of Islam as an Abrahamic religion that venerates, among others, Jesus as a prophet. So, some criminals have perverted the teachings of a religious ideal, (knowing that all religions are what fallible people seem to perceive as the “Word of God.”) We should be condemning and fighting against people who engage in evil acts rather than against vague ideas. But, I guess I over estimate the intelligence of the American public who would rather have a broad target than a narrow focus. Oh wait, it’s not the American public, it’s the politicians who in a calculated manner stir up resentment in order to further their narcissistic fantasies.

People who kill, probably need to be killed themselves. People who want a better life and opportunity, probably ought to be allowed to pursue that dream.

I guess that’s a little too nuanced for the respondents to SA forums, who’ve demonstrated that they can barely read, write a literate sentence, nor think but there it is. It’s a big world with lots of ideas but one is important, we live on a small blue planet that has become increasingly fragile. We need to protect those who care, even if it means sacrifice and and to eliminate hatred, no matter if it’s wrapped in a piece of cloth or identified by a really lame backcomb.

        • aomohoa says:

Sounds like you would do a better job being in charge of intelligence in this country. What we’ve got is not too bright.

The day when the comfy fiction prevailed that we – – Jews, Christians and Muslims – – are all recognized as “people of the book” who can live peaceably together is now OVER.

Those you would identify as ‘criminals’ are Koranic EXPERTS who wield considerable religious AUTHORITY, authority that must be – – and is being – – obeyed by those who “submit” (the actual meaning of the word “Islam”).

It is no accident that so very often those who are savagely murdering their victims shout “Allahu Akbar!” (Arabic: الله أكبر) to demonstrate to their primitive, bloodthirsty and utterly savage “god” the strength and piety of their belief as they carry out his merciless commands.

There is an unpleasant fact we must face: Islam cannot be co-existed with. It’s adherents can either be destroyed or surrendered to. There is no “safe” third option.

      • inverse says:

No, what will make America safer is having leaders who are LEVEL-HEADED and think through what is the best strategy to protect the US and Americans instead of ONE LINER Trump who says banning all Muslims into the US which is neither possible or helpful. Who says a Middle Eastern terrorist will not dye their hair blond, put in blue contact lens and where Polo shirts gain entrance in the US since Trump will say ban only those “dark skinned” peoople with woman who always wear head scarves. The Sept 11, 2001 terrorist crew where all clean shaven, wore polo shirts and looked like preppy college students so Trumps simplistic responses to terrorism is ineffective. Trump is taking the Obama playbook by saying what people with Gruber level tendencies want to hear. Even Kasich had a better response on how he would have US handle the world terrorism to the Belgian attacks than either Trump or Obama. PS. Building US to WWII era level forces is NOT the answer because the enemy no longer amass on a battlefield. The enemy is asymmetric and the US needs to selectively build and strengthen their special forces operators to handle insurgents that live among innocent people and better communication with CIA and other US intel resources at home in the middle East. Doesn’t look good in the news that Seals are complaining they don’t have enough automatic rifles that they use. With North Korea, US will not potentially battle them with foot soldiers, rather with superior missile or even laser technology; and that includes advance nuclear weapons like the Neutron bomb.

People on this board who don’t know anything (a lot of them) think that tough talk does something good. It doesn’t. Police chiefs all over the country are begging for less Muslim bashing. They need the help from those communities. Trump doesn’t know any better. He’s a blowhard, racist imbecile.

        • Morimoto says:

Not to mention Europe’s, and America’s, military actions in Muslim countries. I don’t know of too many people who like foreign military invading their countries.

        • thos says:

Islam is NOT just an excuse.

These murdering Arabs have swarmed out of Africa, REFUSED to assimilate, and have instead been preparing for the day when they had the strength of numbers to wreak havoc throughout all of Europe – – and after that, America.

The mistake by European elites was to extend an undeserved blanket of tolerance and welcome to a sub human species of blood thirsty savages pretending to be ‘victims’

        • thos says:

Morimoto says: “Not to mention Europe’s, and America’s, military actions in Muslim countries.”

9/11 was the game changer. What we thought we could safely ignore before that massive air attack on our homeland could no longer be ignored.

The decision was made to take the fight into the teeth of the terrorists where ever they could be found, so that we would not have to confront them in our own back yard so to speak. Those strictly following the dictates of Islam – – kill the infidels, Death To America, &c. – – were to no one’s particular surprise found in “Muslim countries.”

        • saveparadise says:

Our nation must come to the realization that we are at war and that this is a war like no other we have ever encountered. Time to forget politically correct and create strategies that will prevent the enemy from bringing the destruction to our doorstep. Why do you think Europe is so vulnerable? It’s because the enemy lives among them and are able to move at will. Look around you. Oahu would be too easy as a terrorist target.

        • pohaku96744 says:

Good point core problem leads to their perceived justification for their actions. They rationalize suicide attacks as justified even though it may be conflicting in their beliefs.

Guess Ige will still be welcoming unvetted Syrian Refugees to Hawaii with the spirit of Aloha.

  6. Pocho says:

Trump! Trump! Trump! Trump! Trump! USA USA USA USA USA

  7. etalavera says:

But Bernie says climate change is our biggest enemy, and Hillary says we should bring MORE unvetted Syrian “refugees” to the United States. Hmm…

    • seaborn says:

An occasional terrorist bomb blast killing a dozen people is not a bigger threat than climate change, which, in an extreme form, could conceivably lead to extinction of life on the planet. So, yeah, Bernie is correct.

      • klastri says:

Look at who you’re debating with. People who think that Donald Trump – a complete buffoon – should be President of the United States. Why bother? No matter how much logic and basis in fact you bring to the discussion, it gets waved away. Ignorance can be an exhausting debate opponent.

      • aomohoa says:

Go Bernie! I have not given up hope yet.

      • TigerEye says:

Interesting the way *refugees* was in quotation marks… as if they’re not really refugees. Also funny the way the way no one seems to care about mass-killings. Crickets under these almost monthly stories unless committed by foreigners or minorities. When crossing the highway in Kauai, maybe some would worry more about getting zika virus from mosquitoes whthan being hit by cars.

    • TigerEye says:

You’re saying that the Syrians fleeing their homeland are not refugees?

  8. lespark says:

ISiS are wolves in sheep’s clothing, almost impossible to detect. We are fighting a cancer that needs to be killed even if it means going from door to door. If it looks like an ISIS be vigilant and report any suspicious activities.

  9. Smiley7 says:

Are we going to wait for something to happen here? We were told over and over again that they are in all 50 states yet the powers that be act like nothing is happening or ignore it completely. I observed the numerous attempts of cars trying to breach into PH at 5 am and told security who ignored me. Why would someone try to enter the base knowing they did not have the credentials to get in? Auwe!

  10. FARKWARD says:

HORRIFIC! Once there was The Crusades, the Spanish Inquisitions, Sudanese and 80-Year wars, etc..; all horrible periods of History. I’m not anti-Islam, per se; but these new sects of alleged Muslims–SUCK! TRUMP’s SPOOKY, but in these current times–we need someone in the White House, representing and defending America, who walks with a heavy-foot, very loudly, and carries a huge arsenal (no “sticks” and not “softly”). For one, we can accurately blame “Hillary” and her failed and maligned efforts in creating World War III. Hillary is a Psychopath and only serves the interests of “the 1% of the 1%”… (Has she ever been asked if she “had sexual relationships with that woman”?) (“Yoko Ono” alleged, in a NYT’s interview, that she had a sexual affair with “Hillary”))… And now we have “Billary” lobbying in behalf of Hillary–for Cuban Cigars… Do we really want this TWO-HEADED-MONSTER (minions of Satan) in the White House again? VOTERS–Wake Up!! They might appoint CALDWELL as Secretary of Transportation or IGE as Secretary of Health and Human Services…

  11. Keonigohan says:

He spent less than 30 seconds on the “T” attacks in his morning speech. “Islam” wasn’t mentioned. He had a baseball game to attend this afternoon.

    • FARKWARD says:

      “The Ignorant” have no words…

      • FARKWARD says:

..but, I’m certain that when Jodi Leong sobers-up, after drinking her morning Latte-Skinny, and helps David rehearse her prepared speech, and June teaches David how to pronounce the written-words–there will be a speech on KGMB/KHNL this evening–hosted by the okole-kissing Keahi Tucker.

  12. serious says:

If we had a leader in Hawaii I think this should be another wakeup call. Our major revenue is in the tourist industry–tourists are fragile in their decisions–look at Mexico. We have the threat of a number or mosquito delivered diseases and a terrorist attack—I am sure we have people here who can deliver–on ANY tourist related facility would bring down the house of cards!! However, we can always raise taxes–RIGHT???

    • justmyview371 says:

It appears many of these attacks are being carried out or at least planned by people from the Middle East who have migrated to Europe. More caution needs to be followed before allowing people into Europe.

      • choyd says:

And you clearly don’t educate yourself. Almost all of the attackers were home grown descendants of former immigrants who never assimilated.

        • thos says:

          “immigrants who never assimilated.”

          BINGO!

You have swerved into the truth (no doubt inadvertently)

          BINGO!

Yes, thos: when reading what you write, I always get a vision of how seamlessly you must have blended into this local milieu. No doubt the neighborhood kids bring you lychee every summer and call you “uncle.”

        • thos says:

Perhaps it is time for you to visit a shrink about these continuing visions of yours. Hear little voices as well?

        • TigerEye says:

Just the little voice that shouted, “BINGO” — probably in homage to the owner’s social life.

        • thos says:

    • thos says:

It’s is now too late for mere caution.

Those in Europe with the will to survive must now go into full attack mode.

      At a minimum that means:

      >> halting the entire flow of immigrants
      >> forcibly removing all illegal aliens
      >> instrumenting all mosques to provide 24/7 real time surveillance
      >> establishing military tribunals for curbside trials and execution of terrorists apprehended
      >> overseas power projection on carefully selected target locales to locate and extinguish Islamic terrorists in their nests.
      >> involuntary sterilization of European Muslims in situ.

      • TigerEye says:

We should only start these processes after vetting each member of the Catholic clergy in the U.S. to include DNA samples, putting all Catholic community centers and places of worship under the microscope and summarily executing every pedophile that is uncovered in this investigation. Make sterilization a requirement for the priesthood in the USA. Anyone who objects should be subjected to the same treatment.

Right back at you, thos: a set of solutions that might’ve originated from the same neural black hole as did yours.

Of course, I don’t feel that way about Catholics but I’m fairly certain you would, if you were not Catholic.

        • thos says:

Reductio ad absurdum is a two edged sword. That said it must be admitted you have the “absurdum” part down cold.

It is your “Reductio” that needs a lot of work.

Not to put to fine a point on what should be obvious – – even to you – – but it ain’t some bunch of deranged mackerel snappers who think suicide bombing is the path to paradise, shouting “Allahu Akbar” as they joyously murder their innocent victims.

  15. Wazdat says:

How sad. Its insane that Mr. Trump is the only candidate talking about securing our boarders. We need to DEFEND our homeland and STOP all illegal immigrants from entering and put a temporary Ban on muslims entering our country. Time to get TOUGH and stop the B$ PC.

    • thos says:

But don’t you realize that what you are suggesting would be a TERRIBLE blow to the electoral fortunes of the Democrat Party.

They have already maxed out the argument that requiring photo ID to vote is racist and that argument has been rejected.

They have researched every possible cemetery to get as many of the dead as they can to vote Democrat and even that is not enough.

The only hope of the Democrat Party is to tear down all our borders and say to the terrorists, “Y’all come.” Only massive unchecked illegal immigration will provide the votes they need to stay in power. And for the Democrat Party, as for the Mafia, POWER is the unvarying way.

      • seaborn says:

Not as much voter fraud as you’d like to believe there is. Hardly any at all. And, your “cemetery” dead voters? Pretty lame. “Voter Identifications Laws, by Minnite again. “In 95 percent of so-called ‘cemetery voting’ alleged in the 2010 midterm election in South Carolina, human error accounts for nearly all of what the state’s highest law enforcement official had informed the U.S. Department of Justice was fraud.”” And, “A 10-year ‘death audit’ in North Carolina turned up a grand total of 50 instances in which a vote may have been attributed to a deceased person, most likely due to errors made by precinct workers.” Read it all here: https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/wonk/wp/2014/07/09/7-papers-4-government-inquiries-2-news-investigations-and-1-court-ruling-proving-voter-fraud-is-mostly-a-myth/

“Not as much voter fraud as you’d like to believe there is.”

          It does not take much.

Look how little the rich bootlegger daddy had to spend in such target area as West Virginia, Chicago, and Texas in the summer and fall of 1960 to buy a razor thin (and utterly fraudulent) victory for the worst president we ever had.

  16. MoiLee says:

When it comes to vetting the Immigrant Muslims coming to our country,Trump is making more and more sense every day! This is not Racist, actually He is RIGHT!…..
After securing Iraq have you ever heard of ISIS before?? Really think about it! This is why I keep saying “People need to pull their heads out the sand” and realize who is really responsible for all the mess. So you say?Who’s taking responsibility? No body!
The only responsibility i hear, is leaders making pretty speeches? Obama’s “Redline” , & Hillary . Even some of the European leaders. Which has resulted in…..Utter failure!
After all they did this to themselves by not properly enforcing the vetting process!!Yep! You could say: They were lead like sheep listening to the “Pied Piper” …President Barrack Hussien Obama.
    GO Donald Trump! IMUA

    • DeltaDag says:

The Islamic State was the result of former Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki’s willful failure to integrate Sunni Muslims into the power structure. The resulting discontent combined with the U.S. and coalition military drawdown made it unsurprising that an extremist group was able to flourish.

      • MoiLee says:

Delta’s:”The Islamic State was the result of former Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al Maliki’s” .We all know this but who else? My point is,if we left a residual force of maybe 20 to 30 thousand US troops in Iraq, would we still have this problem? I don’t think…. so.

        • TigerEye says:

Your so-called challenge got the response that it deserved. I brought up an example of another religion that was corrupted by a few violent bigots and you “challenge” me to quote scripture. Brilliant.

But, heck, as long as we’re issuing gratuitous challenges, let’s see how long you can hold your breath.

        • hawaiikone says:

Attempting to cause you momentary pause in order to reflect on the pivotal differences between Christ’s message and Allah’s was indeed a waste of time. By all means, continue to stew in your own ignorance…

Notice that the attacks increased after Obama got rid of Osama. We wonder sometimes about what’s going on in this world. Does Obama know what he’s doing?

    • inverse says:

What? Osama had to be taken out in Pakistan and that was not the problem as Al Qaeada waned, HOWEVER with Obama/Hillary trying to “nation build” in Libya and taking out Gaddafi, withdrawing from Iraq and trying to “nation build” by supporting opponents of Al-Assad in Syra, that is what helped to accelerated the growth of ISIS in the middle East.

    • Carang_da_buggahz says:

Of course he does! This latest incident is merely another example of “Workplace Violence”. Nothing to see here, folks. Move along.

  19. Jonathan_Patrick says:

In three billion years no one will know what happened today. It seems inevitable that the world will engage in another War. People need to practice diplomacy. As the leader of the free world, this country needs to help peace, not create war. Are we creating the conditions for war or peace? The U.S. government is keeping top secrets from us, so we can only hope they will not push the nuclear trigger indiscriminately.

  20. Jonathan_Patrick says:

Seems like the Islamic State is determined to make a name for themselves. It is up to the Free World to engage them in diplomacy, to see what they want. Did the assassination of Osama bin Laden cause them to energize themselves against The West? The United Nations needs to take the lead in gathering the people involved and asking them “What will it take for you to stop these dastardly deeds?”

  21. KB says:

it is time for the muslum leaders,

  23. Carang_da_buggahz says:

And barack hussein wants to resettle over 10,000 of these vile savages on our shores, and that’s just for starters. The European nations who took in hundreds of thousands of these so-called “refugees” are beginning to see the fruits of their generosity backfire miserably. We already have enough problems of our own without importing more liabilities.

  24. Jonathan_Patrick says:

Mister Spock was right. He said in “The Immunity Syndrome” in 1968, to Doctor McCoy, that: “You humans say that we Vulcans have a cold heart. How little space you have in yours when you cannot sympathize the death of 400 Vulcans? You can appreciate the death of one person, however when you engage in war and millions are killed, you don’t understand the death of millions.”

  25. AhiPoke says:

For all of the people who believe, like Obama does, that having a strong military invites crazies like ISIS to attack us, look at what’s happened to Belgium. Belgium took in Muslims, again like what Obama wants us to do, and look at what’s happened to them. These crazy people want to kill all non-Muslims. They’d kill their brother and sister if they weren’t as radical as they are. I know that most Muslims are not crazy but let’s be real, the radical Muslims are a major threat to the rest of this world. Mr. Obama, read my lips, “Radical Islam”.

  26. Racoon says:

Boy, these terrorists are good. Now need to take off the kid gloves and respond with extreme measures. Get your SWAT teams and special forces in order and start assassinating them. Forget civil rights and reinstate capital punishment and torture. Stop allowing blacks and muslims through your borders. Give your citizens concealed carry and declare open season on muslims. European countries now have reasons to declare war.

    • klastri says:

“Stop allowing blacks and muslims through your borders.” Even by your low standard, this is bad. How does it feel to be a racist imbecile?

      • TigerEye says:

This guy… Some of the others as well HAVE to be left-leaning sock puppets showing up in places like this to give the right-leaning folks a bad image. It’s working.

  27. seaborn says:

This world is turning Muslim. “In the United States, Christians will decline from more than three-quarters of the population in 2010 to two-thirds in 2050, and Judaism will no longer be the largest non-Christian religion. Muslims will be more numerous in the U.S. than people who identify as Jewish on the basis of religion.” http://www.pewforum.org/2015/04/02/religious-projections-2010-2050/

This world is turning Muslim, but not peaceably.

Evangelization by the sword is not peaceful.

      • TigerEye says:

Neither is racism by the sword, bigotry by the sword, sterilization by the sword or any of the other things you’ve been shouting for above and below.

        • thos says:

Than you agree that Islam is not a religion of peace, eh?

        • TigerEye says:

My name ain’t “Than.” What I agree with is that religions don’t pull triggers at innocent people. That is the job of violent, bigoted, racists with guns and bombs who would pervert any name by which they call God.

…And, I noted that racism, bigotry and sterilization were things that you are advocating here. Maybe you noticed that I never ascribed any of that to your religion.

        • thos says:

“religions don’t pull triggers at innocent people”

Islam demands of its adherents the strict application of Koranic authority which has been taken by the devout to mean crucifying children, burning people alive, filming the beheading of those with hands bound behind their back – – and CELEBRATING these barbaric crimes against humanity.

You are free to invent a fictional Islam of your imagination, but the real thing is going to make its presence known. The longer you remain in denial, the more potent the threat.

  28. bleedgreen says:

Civil rights handcuffs law enforcement from taking affirmative action. Belgium law enforcement knows who the radical terrorist are, but all they can do is monitor…until something like this happens. The best example I can think of is Apple’s refusal to assist the FBI in getting past the password-protected iphone of the terrorist killers that killed 14 in San Bernadino. Issue – protection of civil rights to privacy.
